Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using Downport.

Last updated: January 2026

01Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Downport application for macOS ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the application. Downport is provided by our team as an independent software tool designed for personal media management.

02User Responsibility & Prohibited Use

Downport is a tool designed to facilitate the downloading of media for personal, archival, and fair-use purposes. You acknowledge and agree that:
  • You are solely responsible for the content you download using the Service.
  • You must comply with all applicable copyright laws and the terms of service of the third-party platforms from which you download media.
  • The Service must not be used for commercial distribution or any form of digital piracy.
  • You agree not to use the Service for any illegal activities or to infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.

03Third-Party Services & yt-dlp

Downport acts as a graphical interface for various open-source tools, including but not limited to yt-dlp.

We do not own or control the third-party platforms (such as video hosting sites) that the Service interacts with. Changes to these platforms may affect the functionality of Downport. We provide updates to maintain compatibility but cannot guarantee that all services will be available at all times.

04Paid Plans & Refunds

Downport offers a "Community" version for free and a "Pro" version for a one-time license fee.
  • Pro License: Purchasing a Pro license grants you access to premium features like 4K/8K support and unlimited concurrent downloads.
  • Refunds: We offer a 7-day "no questions asked" refund policy for Pro licenses. After this period, refunds are granted at our sole discretion in cases of technical failure that we cannot resolve.
  • Updates: A one-time purchase typically includes all minor updates and critical maintenance for the current major version of the app.

05Disclaimers & Liability

The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Downport disclaims all warranties, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted. In no event shall Downport or its creators be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use or inability to use the software.

We do not host any of the content downloaded via the app; our servers never touch your media files or your download history.

06Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
