Getting Started

Downport is designed to be the most efficient native companion for video archiving. Whether you're using the web platform or the dedicated macOS app, the workflow is built around speed and simplicity.

Installation

For the full experience, drag Downport to your Applications folder.

Permissions

Ensure you grant disk access for the directory where you want files saved.

Link Detection

Simply copy a URL to your clipboard, and Downport will automatically offer to process it.

Pro Tip:Use⌘ + Vanywhere in the app to instantly trigger a download analysis for the current clipboard content.

Downloads & Formats

Downport supports an extensive range of resolutions and containers to ensure your media is ready for any device. From 4K Ultra HD to high-bitrate MP3s, quality is never compromised.

Video Resolutions
1080p, 1440p (2K), 2160p (4K), and 4320p (8K) supported.
Audio Extraction
Save audio-only tracks in MP3 (320kbps) or lossless M4A.
Smart Naming
Files are automatically named based on metadata to keep your library organized.

Browser Cookies

To access private videos or your own "Watch Later" playlists, Downport requires session authentication. We have simplified this through a secure cookie import system.

Local-Only Process

Open the "Advanced" tab in Settings to link your browser. This process is entirely local; your credentials never leave your machine and are used solely to authenticate requests directly with the host platform.

Check if the video is region-locked or age-restricted. You may need to verify your session.

Enable 'Parallel Downloads' in Preferences to maximize bandwidth usage during transfers.
